Many Americans are feeling the pain of high gas prices. It is getting to the point where people are realizing that they have to make a change because nobody else is going to help them ease the burden of high gas prices. The problem is that many people just do not know how to stop using so much gasoline. You may not know it yet but there are alternatives to gasoline. An example of an alternative is biodiesel. Biodiesel have being to gain popularity since the gas price hike. What is Biodiesel? Biodiesel is an alternative fuel source that is made from common ingredients that are safe, renewable and clean. Biodiesel can be made on both large and small scales. You can even make your own biodiesel at home. How is Biodiesel Created? The main ingredients are all natural too- alcohol, lye and water. These ingredients are mixed together and allowed to settle and then the biodiesel is separated from the bi-product, glycerin, and can be used in any diesel running engine. What Makes Biodiesel Better Than Gasoline? You may have heard of some of the advantages of biodiesel but some of you may not know it yet. Below are some of the advantages of biodiesel: -It can easily be made at the comfort of your own home. It is easy to make and also safe. -Safety. Biodiesel is non toxic and does not catch fire easily unlike gasoline. -It is safe for the environment, too. Biodiesel burns much cleaner than gasoline. It also does not have harmful bi-products. In fact, glycerin, the bi-product of biodiesel, is used in soap products. The bi-product is actually useful. -Cheaper. Wouldn't you be saving a lot of money making your own biodiesel at home? I bet you would. -Since the ingredients you use to make biodiesel fuel are renewable, it will never run out. So, there you have it. A great alternative to gasoline-biodiesel.
