One lane could be Comcast, MSN, AOL, Qwest; these are all lanes on the highway. Imagine the cars as millions of people traveling down the highway. Now guess what the exits are? Websites or weblogs! And guess what your desired goal should be? To get as many cars to YOUR exit as possible.

I'm going to show you how to increase online traffic FREE. Meaning as in the example above; show you how to make your exit shine brighter than all other exits. Drawling vehicles to your exit. If you're not familiar with a technique called "keyword optimization" you can spend major dollars alone doing this.

Now remember my friend in no way am I claiming to know all about increasing online traffic to your website. What I do claim to know and share with you is a nontechnological simple systematic method giving you FREE targeted website visitors. I'll keep this generalized for time constraints but for the smaller details I'll leave my contact info at the conclusion of this article.

The majority of this information is for affiliate marketers because this is what I do, sale affiliate products. There is usually no startup cost, you receive a free affiliate website, and ClickBank.com has thousands of great products worth selling, check them out.

If you're on a limited advertising budget like the average affiliate marketer; you want to spend little as possible to market your website or product. You need to know the secrets to stay in the game of the major advertising companies.

Your goal should be to start at the bottom and climb to the top of your particular product market. So for your keyword you want to describe your product. So your keyword or key words should be (Little red shiny Apple).

There are free tools available online that will give you the exact keywords people are using when looking for your product. With this tool you can see exactly what people are typing in the Google, Yahoo, MSN, or Alexa search engines.

Or you can simply type the words "free keyword tools" in any search engine and use those provided. When using these keyword tools simply type in the name of the product you are selling. Then start from the "very bottom" analyzing the keywords that best describe your product.

These phrases consisting of 3 or more words are called (Long tail keywords). Remember to increase online traffic your success involves the effective use of "long tail keywords". Once you have found the right keywords for your affiliate product, now let's change our affiliate website link to match the keyword we've chosen. Remember in our early example: Apples is your primary keyword, and (Little red shiny Apple) is your Long tail keyword.

Remember affiliate website links don't look pretty because there are payment code's embedded in the link. Example: my ClickBank.com affiliate link looks like this:http://candyc77.apples.hop.clickbank.net my paid code identifier is candyc77. This doesn't look good. But to get paid I need this link!

To make this link more pleasing to the viewers of your website you need to change this link to something more pleasant. By visiting the website http://www.shorturl.com you can get a shorter more pleasant looking affiliate link like this: Apples.2fortune.com for around $1.88 a year.

Now with your effective list of longtail keywords and your new pleasant looking affiliate link. Let's increased online traffic with a Web log, better known as a blog. Go to www.blogger.com or WordPress.com and get your FREE weblog.

Trust me I don't have time for all the details, but you will love using Web blog's because they're free and they have RSS feed. You can learn more about RSS feed at whichever blog address you join.

Just remember it's easy because it's already installed and search engines LOVE RSS feed. Now once your new blog is set up you want to talk about your affiliate product using your primary, secondary and Long tail keywords.

Remember in the earlier example, your primary keyword was apples which is to competitive for now. You might use (candy apples) as your secondary keyword but this is still to competitive for the beginner. To increase online traffic you should begin with "longtail keywords".

As I stated earlier (Long tail keywords) are phrases with 3 or more words in the phrase. You have a smaller audience using Long tail keywords; but this is where you start for free search engine traffic.

Use the long tail keywords you have chosen in the description of your weblog to describe your affiliate product. Also include the better looking affiliate link you've obtained from http://www.shortURL.com. http://Apples.2fortune.com is our example linked we acquired from http://www.shortURL.com. As .com links improve affiliate sales. I highly recommend a .com link to increase online traffic.

Now don't forget, you have a little homework by visiting the websites I presented above. The knowledge you can obtain from these websites will help you achieve even greater traffic results.
