I have been teaching others how to repair their credit for several years now. I can't even begin to tell you some of the horror stories that I have heard from my students. The goal of this article is to avoid having to hear any more of those horror stories by teaching you how to erase bad credit yourself.

It's no big secret that having bad credit can be costly. I have had some of my students tell me such that they couldn't even rent an apartment due to their bad credit. I have had other students that told me that they were forced to pay crazy interest rates due to their low credit score. Over the years I have heard so many horror stories that I could probably write an entire book.

To erase bad credit like a pro you first need to get an idea of exactly where you stand. The only way that you can do that is to request your current credit report. You can get your credit report by requesting it from all three credit bureaus. Thanks to the Fair Credit Reporting Act every American is entitled to at least one free credit report per year. My recommendation is that you check your credit report every six months. After all this is your financial future.

Once you have your credit report in your hands it is time to get down to work. You need to highlight every negative mark on your credit report. If for some reason you come across something on your credit report that you do not understand dont hesitate to contact the the bureaus. They are there to assist you, and besides its their job.

After you have located all of the negative marks on your credit report it is time to write a letter of dispute. Don't attempt to get fancy when writing your letter of dispute i.e. trying to create letterhead or using big words that you wouldn't normally use. The truth of the matter is I have gotten better results from hand written letters than any other technique that I have tried.

STOP THE PRESSES!!! What I am about to say is extremely important. It is a MUST that you mail your letters of dispute via certified mail. I know it sounds pretty simple but you will be amazed at how many people fail to do this. Keep in mind your certified receipt is the only proof that you have of when you actually sent your letters out.

The credit bureaus have 30 days to respond if they fail to respond then by law they have to remove the disputed mark(s). A few times I have had them try to challenge the date of my dispute and the only thing that saved me was the fact that I have my certified mail receipt.

Obviously repairing your credit is way beyond the realm of this article, however the information that I have given to you will defiantly get you off to a good start. I also have 20 Free tip videos regarding credit repair. The videos are based on the most commonly asked questions that people have asked me over the years. The link to the videos can be found below.
