The iPhone created quite a splash when it was given to the public. You may wonder why the public, who is more technologically advanced than in previous years, was so swayed by this phone. The iPhone created quite a splash when it was given to the public. You may wonder why the public, who is more technologically advanced than in previous years, was so swayed by this phone. The reason is simple. The iPhone is full of never-before-seen technology and delivers it all in a highly effective trim little package. It is the combination of two very popular devices, the iPod and the mobile phone.

Named 'Invention of the Year 2007' by Time magazine, it uses a degree of technology that has never been introduced before. It has all the standard features of a regular mobile phone.

Call waiting, caller id, conferencing etc,. but it also adds the function of an mp3 player at the same time. One of its more outstanding features is the capability of visual voicemail. You are able to select the voicemail you wish to listen to without having to go through all the other voicemails in your mailbox.

Another convenient feature in the iPhone is the internet browsing capability. The HTML email client is fast and easy to use and you can synchronise bookmarks between your computer and iPhone without a problem. The best mobile web browser, Safari, is used in the iPhone.

The iPhone can be a handy device if you are lost or stuck in traffic. You can access Google maps and find a way around the traffic or where you are. You are also able to get other traffic information directly.

The iPhone certainly makes life a whole lot easier. It has a small 3.5 inch screen that is touch controlled. It is a bigger screen than is typically seen on a mobile phone. This allows the quality of pictures and video to be considerably better.

The iPhone display has a tri-sensory responder system: the first unit acts as a shut off device when the iPhone is too close to the user's face. This is to prevent accidental entries from the user's facial contours. The next sensory unit is the ambient light sensor, which adjusts the display brightness according to the environment. The final unit is a 3-axis accelerometre, which can sense the phone's specific angle and change the screen suitably.

The iPhone has become the must-have technological gadget of our time. Downloadable music and movies, sleeker look, WiFi connectivity and larger screen have contributed to the iPhone's charm. Intriguingly, while the iPhone has so many functions, the majority are known to use it just for checking emails on the move. Statistics show that over 77% of iPhone owners check email on it. The other popular activities among iPhone users include internet surfing and downloading.
