Everyone dreams of traveling the world. And the number one concern on most people's mind is where they are going to stay. Imagine yourself welcoming some of these travelers into your home. If you were to become a homestay host, you could be welcoming world travelers into your home. If you have a spare room, an interest in meeting new people, and do not mind working from home, then becoming a homestay host may be something that would work out well for you.

You may have one or two unused rooms in your house that could accommodate guests on a regular basis. Plus, you get to choose the schedule, and when that big bucket of money overflows you can make plans for a homestay somewhere else, maybe even with people you already met at your home.

If you live in North America, you're in luck. Over one third of all home stays are in North America. California, Washington DC, and Canada are all very popular destinations for home stays. And even though homestays are a bargain price for travelers, they still make for a very nice additional income at home.

In general there are about 30 countries offering homestays and the opportunity to meet people from other cultures. Becoming a host family can help open up your world whilst helping you to save money in your own vacation fund. You may end up hosting somebody from an exotic land, form a friendship, and then decide to visit them the following year. There is nothing more enjoyable than spending vacation time with somebody who knows the area and can give you the exposure to culture that you would not normally get from a vacation travel package.

A good percentage of homestay travel involves students. Students sometimes will use homestay is as an exchange program with students in other countries, or it can just be a source of inexpensive housing. You may have found yourself too busy to host a foreign exchange student in the past, but today students of all ages are looking for good housing and you get to pick the schedule for yourself.

It does not matter if you are a younger student or an older one, a homestay is a good choice. If you do end up housing a student who is in a foreign education program, they will certainly appreciate your inside information about your neighborhood and activities in town and your not likely to complain about the extra income.

Think also about the safety aspect of visiting a different country and being close to people who know the neighborhood, the city, and the best places to have a good time safely. The security of staying in a home environment is a great advantage.

Almost everyone is looking for ways to make additional income to pay the monthly bills. Being a homestay host can help with that, as well as giving you an inside track on information about a foreign destination before you even get there. If you make a list of all the advantages of having borders stay at your home, and the advantages of getting the inside scoop on possible travel destinations, you will have a hard time holding yourself back from making travel plans for the next couple of years.

If you have an extra room or two in your house, a sense of adventure, and the desire to travel the world without robbing a bank first, then you should look into becoming a homestay host.
